Durch die Miniaturisierung der Elektronikbauteile und der Magnetplattenlaufwerke gelang es, dieses System kleiner und geräuschärmer zu gestalten. Damit war es besser in das Büroumfeld integrierbar. Zudem übertraf das neue Informationssystem Quattro 25 durch Einsatz von multiprozessorgesteuerten Controllern z.B. für Datenübertragung und Magnetplattensteuerung die Leistungsdaten des Vorgängersystems 8870/ 65. Als Datenträger sind zwei 80-MB-Platten und eine 45-MB-Magnetbandkassette (Streaming Mode) installiert.. 8870/ 25 ist mit bis zu vier Multiprozessoren bestückbar. Ab 1987 wurde das System in 8870 Quattro umbenannt.
